Louisiana Pedestrian Struck by CN Freight Train Near Previously Malfunctioning Crossing
(Baton Rouge, Louisiana – March 6, 2025)
A Baton Rouge individual was struck by a CN freight train early Thursday morning at about 4:30 am. The name of the involved individual has not yet been disclosed.
The collision occurred at or near the CN railroad crossing of La Casino Cruises. The crossing is a double-tracked main line crossing that accommodates a daily average of ten trains.
The crossing, while private, is equipped with flashing lights and gates. There have been three prior collisions at this crossing. The crossing has also been the location of previous reports of malfunctioning lights and gates. It is unknown at this time if the lights and gates were working properly just prior to this collision.
The Baton Rouge Police Department is still investigating this incident.
