Driver Gets Car Stuck On Crossing In Fog, Loses Car To CSX Train
(New Castle, Pennsylvania – November 1, 2011)
Driving in heavy fog and early morning darkness, a Canfield, PA resident struck something on the roadway of Route 18 in New Castle, PA Tuesday about 6:00 A.M., overcorrected, and wound up with his vehicle stuck on CSX railroad tracks at the grade crossing.
Lee Turner got out of his car and called 911, but did not get the response for which he had hoped. Instead of a tow truck, a CSX freight train showed up, dividing his car in half and demolishing the vehicle. New Castle and Lawrence County officials are investigating.
