(Terre Haute, Indiana – January 6, 2022)
Two Indiana residents were killed in the early hours of Thursday, January 6, 2022 when their vehicle was struck by a CSX freight train at a CSX railroad crossing on Hulman Street in Terre Haute, Indiana. City police officials released the name the deceased driver as Breanna Clark and the passenger as Subrina Smith, both of Terre Haute. According to witnesses, the crossing signal system was activated at the time of this collision and the vehicle may have driven around the downed gates. However, it is unclear how long the gates were down or if they were malfunctioning in the downed position prior to the train’s arrival.
